Heavyweight Garment Care: How to Make Your Oversized Tees and Hoodies Last

You've invested in premium heavyweight streetwear—now it's time to protect it. At Deshi Flex, we construct our tees and hoodies from dense 280 GSM cotton and 420 GSM brush fleece. These long-staple organic fibers are built to last, but standard laundry practices can degrade them quickly.

Here is our definitive clothing care guide to keep your garments looking fresh for years.

1. Wash Cold, Wash Inside Out

Heat is the ultimate enemy of cotton fibers and prints. * Turn Inside Out: This protects the high-density print graphics and embroideries on the chest and back from rubbing against other clothes in the machine. * Cold Water Only: Always use water below 30°C. Cold water preserves the custom reactive dyes (like River Olive or Obsidian Black) and stops them from bleeding.

2. Ditch the Dryer (Always Air Dry)

Tumble dryers shrink organic cotton fibers and crack rubber prints. * Lay Flat or Hang Dry: Hang your tees on a wide, padded hanger to avoid shoulder stretching, or lay hoodies flat on a dry rack. * Avoid Direct Sunlight: Keep garments out of harsh, direct Bangladeshi noon sun, as UV rays break down pigment bonds and cause black fabrics to fade into grey. Dry in shaded, well-ventilated areas instead.

3. Ironing Precautions

Never place a hot iron directly onto a print or embroidery. * Use a Pressing Cloth: Place a clean cotton towel or parchment paper over the graphic before ironing. * Iron Inside Out: Alternatively, iron the garment inside out on a low heat setting to smooth wrinkles without risking print damage.

4. Storage Habits

Because heavyweight fabrics are heavy, hanging them on thin wire hangers for long periods can distort the shoulder shape: * Fold Hoodies: Keep hoodies folded on a shelf to protect the structural double-lined hood. * Fold Heavy Tees: Fold heavyweight tees or use broad-shoulder hangers to maintain the drop-shoulder geometry.
